TIP OF THE DAY: Eat more vegetables and fruits. Not only are they a good source of fiber, but they contain many naturally occurring vitamins, minerals, and amino acids necessary for maintaining optimal health and weight. (This part is hard for me due to the Crohn's but it's a good tip for all of you)
Today was my first day of work. It went very well. I had orientation today so from 7:45a to 4:30p I was sitting in the conference room listening to people talk. But it was informative. Tomorrow is going to be a half day of orientation and then the other half with my department and getting a tour of the hospital so I am SURE I'll get steps in! Due to the fact that I was stetting for almost the whole day I did not get very many steps in. I now need to get myself in a new routing of going to work, coming home and making dinner, cleaning the dishes and trying to find time to work out before bed. Once I start on the day shift I will be getting off at 3:00p so I will have plenty of time, but for tomorrow I won't get home till about 5:30p as I did today.
Today Lunch was provided for us. I did think of portion control as I was dishing up. I tried to estimate 1 cup of Angel Hair Pasta by the size of my fist. So for the points I may have over estimated but better to have some points left over then to go over...I think...
Today at Orientation I found out that they are starting something smiler to the Biggest Loser contest but here you can win a trip to Florida for 2!!! OK so if being healthy and looking better was not an incentive enough I could win a trip to Florida now too??? HELLO, I am SO doing it!! The thing that may set me back is that I have already lost 8 pounds and they always say that the first 10 are the easiest, so I will be at a disadvantage there but all that means is that I just have to kick it into gear!!
Well, here is how I did today;
BREAKFAST:
1 Peanut Butter Granola Bar-2 points
LUNCH:
1 Chicken breast-4 points
1 cup Angel Hair Pasta-5 points
SNACK:
1 Small Take 5 bar-3 points
DINNER:
1 slice of Garlic Chicken Pizza-7 points
1 slice home make Garlic Bread-5 points
DESSERT:
16oz. Cherry Slurpee-4 points (I treated myself today to a craving that I had wanted)
Total points: 30 out of 31 points!
I also drank 6 glasses of water today!!
Sadly I only walked 2,414 steps today :( That's a drop form yesterdays 4,329. But I did sit ALL day long today. I am hoping that tomorrow I can get that number back up.

First of all, 8 pounds - good for you!! A trip to Florida sounds great - go for it! I'm sure your steps will go up and you get involved in working. My exercise these days is walking Sierra - we go every morning for 20 minutes. Good for both of us. Keep up the good work - you're doing super : )
